2018 has been a hell of a year for foreign movies, specifically Spanish-speaking ones. Away from the Roma spectacle, latin creators have been on top of their game, stirring up film festivals all around the world. Luckily, for us, Panama’s International Film Festival is included in this list.

For this year’s edition, the festival is preparing a main course whose ingredients exude talent. Composed of more than 20 films from Latin America, Spain and Portugal, Portal Iberoamericano seeks to make a closer approach between the audiences and the best of our cinema. “This year we bring a creative and smart selection of Ibero-American cinema to the IFF Panamá. A wide array of films - whether talking about genres, topics or the countries where they were made at. This selection aims to shed light on the wide and diverse creative panorama of our region, and to check the pulse of our own cinematography, specially during times like these,” said Diana Sánchez, Artistic Director of the festival.

2018 ha sido tremendo año para películas extranjeras, específicamente las que son en habla española. Lejos del buzz creado por Cuarón con Roma, creadores latinxs se han sabido situar en las trincheras de los distintos festivales de cine alrededor del mundo. Afortunadamente para nosotrxs, el IFF Panamá se incluye en esta lista.

Para la edición de este año, el festival ha preparado un plato fuerte cuyos ingredientes exuden talento en nuestro idioma. Compuesto por cerca de 20 películas latinoamericanas, españolas y hasta portuguesas, el Portal Iberoamericano busca crear un puente más íntimo entre la audiencia y lo mejor de nuestro cine. “Este año traemos a IFF Panamá una sección creativa e inteligente con las mejores producciones de nuestro cine. Es una selección que incluye piezas celebradas internacionalmente por la crítica y la audiencia. Son películas muy diversas, tanto en géneros, como en temáticas y países de producción. Este programa busca mostrar un panorama amplio y diverso de las más importantes producciones de la región. Creemos que a través de estas películas podemos tomar el pulso de nuestra cinematografía, en un momento tan interesante como el actual”, dijo Diana Sánchez, directora artística de IFF Panamá.

The 8th edition of the IFF Panama will take place in Panama City, April 4th - 10th.
